9 months of sore feet, 9 months of hurting back, grumpy mum

swollen belly, large size clothing, expectant mother to be

oh for a rest, new babe in mums arms, dad put to the test

outfitting the house, minor changes to be done

cradle, babies clothes, nappies, nappies and more nappies

 

3 am, desperate shakes, oh wake up, dearest husband

time to go, maternity hospitial, honey, let us make haste

oh stop snoring, male of mine, babes on the way

stumbling around, sleepy fool, have we got everything?

mad dash out to the car, car keys car keys, where are they

 

driving through town, fist out the window, shaking it round

out of my way pregnant wife is in mine car, mate

language oh language swearing all of the way

wife says oh hubby oh hubby both hands on the wheel

hubby smiles , oh wifey dearest, what hospitial, where is it

 

friendly nurses and great doctor await for us here

wheelchair is ready, oh hubby, no, it is not for you

breathe hun breathe hun, deep pants and push

oh no hubby, please no pushing yet, dear hubby

we are still on the way to the birthing place

 

delivery is ready, welcoming and warm, comfort to be

wife, laying on back, relaxed, til labours pain again

midwife smiling all is well, both, baby is ready to come

doctor is ready srubbed up and clean, green gowns

all waiting patiently for the new comer to the world

 

crown of babies head, wifes faces are funny

hubbys hand is purple, oh hell can hun squeeze hard

calm, kind words from doctor, all is going well

push hun push, breathe hun breath, shut up hubby

your time next time hubby, labour is no fun

 

final push, piercing scream, babies lungs filled with air

great smiles all around, proud new parents, you are

doctor is smiling, congrations, hello, what is this

oh ma'am, pushing again oh what is this that I see

oh twins, parents of two beautiful new babies

 

hugs to you mother and father, new lives have began

photos, heaps of love and best wishes to you all four

 happiest family, room fills with love of angels glory

winged beings flying overhead, sprinkling peace and joy

for, tis the day to rejoice, the birth of baby angels
